Terms of Service
Effective Date: May 17, 2026 | Last Reviewed: May 17, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Law Hired platform, website (https://lawhired.com), mobile application, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform") operated by Aequitas Technologies LLC, operating as Law Hired ("Law Hired," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Critical Disclaimers — Please Read First
1.1 Law Hired Is NOT a Law Firm
Law Hired is a technology marketplace that connects individuals and businesses seeking legal assistance with independently practicing attorneys. Law Hired is not a law firm and does not practice law. Law Hired does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal opinions. Nothing on this Platform, in any communication from Law Hired, or in any AI-generated content constitutes legal advice.
1.2 No Attorney-Client Relationship
Using the Platform — including browsing profiles, posting a legal matter, messaging a lawyer, or using any AI feature — does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and any lawyer on the Platform, or between you and Law Hired. An attorney-client relationship is only established when a lawyer formally accepts your matter and a written engagement agreement (retainer) is executed between you and that lawyer.
1.3 Communications Are Not Privileged
Communications through the Platform (including in-app messaging) are not protected by attorney-client privilege until a formal retainer is signed with a specific attorney. Do not share information you wish to keep legally privileged until a retainer is in place.
1.4 NOT for Emergencies
Law Hired is not designed for emergency situations. If you are in immediate danger or require urgent assistance, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. Do not use this Platform in an emergency.
1.5 Lawyer Verification Limitations
While Law Hired requires lawyers to submit bar license credentials for review, we do not guarantee the accuracy of any lawyer's claimed bar membership, standing, specialization, credentials, or disciplinary history. Independently verify a lawyer's qualifications through your state bar association before hiring them.
2. Eligibility and Account Registration
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Platform. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older, have legal capacity to enter binding contracts, and are not barred from using the Platform under applicable law.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep it updated. You are solely responsible for all activity under your account and for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials. Notify us immediately at legal@lawhired.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
We reserve the right to refuse registration, suspend, or terminate accounts at our sole discretion, including for providing false or misleading information.
3. Platform Description and Relationship Between Parties
Law Hired provides a two-sided marketplace where "Clients" seek legal services and "Lawyers" are independently licensed attorneys offering legal services. Law Hired acts solely as a neutral technology intermediary. We do not supervise, direct, control, or employ any lawyer on the Platform. Lawyers are independent contractors. Any legal services agreement is exclusively between Client and Lawyer. Law Hired is not a party to any such agreement and accepts no responsibility for the quality, timeliness, legality, or outcome of any legal services.
Fee Disclosure: Law Hired charges lawyers a flat monthly firm subscription as described on the Pricing page. Law Hired does not charge a percentage platform fee on legal fees collected through the Platform under current Solo / Firm / Scale plans. Standard payment-processor fees may apply when clients pay by card. Clients are not charged a direct marketplace fee by Law Hired.
4. AI Features — Scope and Limitations
The Platform includes AI-powered features including Smart Fee Estimation, Legal Research, AI Clone, Firm Intelligence, Deposition Prep, and Document Drafting. By using any AI feature, you acknowledge:
AI-generated content is for informational and productivity purposes only and does not constitute legal advice, legal opinion, or a substitute for consultation with a licensed attorney.
AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Independently verify all AI-generated research, citations, fee estimates, and document drafts before relying on them.
Lawyers remain solely responsible for all work product and advice, even when AI tools assist in generating content.
Law Hired does not warrant the accuracy, reliability, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated content.
Do not input privileged, confidential, or sensitive personal information into AI tools without understanding how that data is processed (see our AI Usage Policy).
AI Clone features are governed by the separate AI Clone Consent Agreement accepted at setup.
See our full AI Usage Policy.
5. Lawyer-Specific Terms
If you register as a Lawyer, you additionally represent and agree:
You are a licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and this representation is truthful.
You will only accept matters in jurisdictions where you are authorized to practice.

You will conduct a conflicts-of-interest check before accepting any matter.
You will not use the Platform to solicit clients in violation of applicable anti-solicitation rules.
Your bar license is subject to periodic re-verification. False bar information is grounds for immediate suspension.
You are responsible for maintaining malpractice insurance as required by your jurisdiction.
You will document fee arrangements and engagement terms in writing before beginning representation.
AI-generated content does not replace your independent professional judgment. You remain responsible for all advice and work product.
By registering as a Lawyer, you also agree to our Lawyer Terms Addendum.
6. Client-Specific Terms
If you register as a Client, you additionally agree to:
Provide accurate and truthful information about your legal matter.
Understand that posting a legal matter does not constitute retaining a lawyer.
Conduct your own due diligence before hiring any lawyer found through the Platform.
Pay agreed-upon legal fees directly to your chosen lawyer per your engagement agreement.
Understand that Law Hired does not screen, vet, or endorse any specific lawyer.
Not engage lawyers for illegal, fraudulent, or contrary-to-public-policy purposes.
7. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
Violate any applicable federal, state, local, or international law.
Impersonate any person, or misrepresent your qualifications, bar status, or identity.
Post false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, or threatening content.

Engage in unauthorized practice of law.
Collect or harvest user data without consent.
Use AI tools to generate misleading content or to deceive clients or courts.

8. Fees, Billing, and Payments
Lawyer Subscriptions: Fees are billed in advance and non-refundable except as stated in our Billing & Refund Policy.
No Fee on Billings: Law Hired takes 0% of client payments processed through the Platform. Only the payment processor's standard fee (currently approximately 2.9% + 30¢ per card transaction, charged and retained by Stripe) applies to card payments.
Client Payments: Processed via Stripe. Law Hired does not store full payment card information. Subject to Stripe's Terms of Service.
Refunds: Subscription fees are non-refundable. Legal fee disputes must be resolved directly between Client and Lawyer. See our Billing & Refund Policy.
Taxes: You are responsible for all applicable taxes on fees paid or earned through the Platform.
9. User Content and Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of content you submit. By submitting, you grant Law Hired a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate the Platform.
You represent that your content does not infringe third-party rights, violate law, or contain false information.
All Platform software, design, trademarks, and proprietary content are the exclusive property of Law Hired. Law Hired may use aggregated, anonymized Platform usage data to improve AI models. We will not use confidential case content or attorney-client communications to train AI models. See our AI Usage Policy.
10. Community and Forum
Community features (forums, Q&A) are public. Do not post confidential legal information there. No community post constitutes legal advice or creates any attorney-client relationship. All participation is subject to our Community Guidelines. We may remove content that violates those guidelines without notice.
11. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and any Data Processing Agreement that applies to your account. Privacy and retention duties vary by jurisdiction, data type, legal hold, customer role, and professional obligation. ABA Model Rule 1.15 does not create a universal seven-year retention period for every category of platform case data; lawyers remain responsible for configuring and following the rules that apply to their records.
12. Third-Party Integrations
The Platform integrates with third-party services (Stripe, DocuSign, calendar providers, etc.). Your use of these integrations is subject to those providers' terms. Law Hired is not responsible for third-party service practices. Embed Widget use is subject to our Embed Widget Terms.
13. Disclaimers of Warranties
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. LAW HIRED DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT IS ACCURATE OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PURPOSE.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LAW HIRED AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM, ANY LEGAL SERVICES, OR ANY AI-GENERATED CONTENT. LAW HIRED'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO LAW HIRED IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS OR $100 USD.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Law Hired and its affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Platform, breach of these Terms, your User Content, violation of third-party rights, or (for Lawyers) any claim arising from legal services you provided or failed to provide.
16. Dispute Resolution — Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver
Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights.
Binding Arbitration: Except for small claims court matters, all disputes shall be resolved exclusively by final and binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, in Delaware (or remotely).
CLASS ACTION WAIVER: YOU AND LAW HIRED WAIVE THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS ACTIONS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDINGS. ALL CLAIMS MUST BE BROUGHT INDIVIDUALLY.
Opt-Out: You may opt out by sending written notice to legal@lawhired.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, including your name, account email, and opt-out statement.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. For disputes not subject to arbitration, you consent to exclusive jurisdiction in Delaware state and federal courts.
18. Electronic Communications Consent
By creating an account, you consent to receive electronic communications from Law Hired (emails, push notifications, in-app messages). If you provide a phone number, you consent to receive SMS for account verification and security. Standard rates may apply. You may opt out of marketing communications but not transactional messages necessary to operate your account.
19. Termination
Law Hired may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause, if you breach these Terms or pose a risk to the Platform or other users. Obligations survive termination. You may delete your account via Settings; deletion is subject to a 24-hour confirmation period and our data retention obligations.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

Severability: Invalid or unenforceable provisions do not affect the remaining Terms.
Waiver: Failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
Assignment: You may not assign your rights without our written consent. Law Hired may assign its rights without restriction.
Force Majeure: Law Hired is not liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
