Community Guidelines

1. Purpose of the Community

Law Hired's community forum ("Community") is a moderated space where legal professionals, legal consumers, and interested members of the public can engage in meaningful discussion about legal topics, share professional knowledge, ask general questions about the law, and connect with the broader legal ecosystem.

The Community is intended to foster education, collaboration, and trust — not to replace attorney-client representation or formal legal advice. It is a resource, not a law firm. Every participant has a shared responsibility to maintain the quality, accuracy, and safety of this space.

These Community Guidelines ("Guidelines") apply to all content posted, shared, or transmitted within the Community, including forum posts, comments, replies, attached documents, images, and links. These Guidelines are incorporated into and governed by Law Hired's Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

2. Who Can Participate

The Community is open to:

• Registered Law Hired users, including clients and verified lawyers.

• Legal professionals (attorneys, paralegals, legal researchers) with verified or self-identified professional accounts.

• Members of the public who have registered a Law Hired account and agreed to our Terms of Service.

Participation in the Community requires a registered Law Hired account. Anonymous or guest posting is not permitted. All participants are expected to use their real identity or their registered professional name, and may not impersonate other users or professionals.

Law Hired reserves the right to restrict or revoke Community access for any account at any time, with or without prior notice, for violation of these Guidelines or our Terms of Service.

3. Permitted Content

The following types of content are encouraged and welcome in the Community:

• General legal education and discussion — explaining how laws work, how court processes function, or how legal concepts apply in common situations.

• Anonymized case studies or hypotheticals presented for educational or analytical purposes, provided no identifying information about real clients or pending matters is included.

• Sharing publicly available legal resources, statutes, court opinions, law review articles, and practice guides.

• Questions about the law from members of the public seeking general guidance (not legal advice specific to their situation).

• Professional development discussions relevant to the legal industry, including practice management, legal technology, and professional ethics.

• Feedback, reviews, and discussions about Law Hired platform features and improvements.

• Announcements of publicly available legal resources, clinics, or events.

4. Prohibited Content

The following types of content are strictly prohibited in the Community:

4.1 Legal Advice

Posts that constitute legal advice specific to an individual's legal situation are prohibited. This includes telling another user what they should do legally, providing jurisdiction-specific guidance intended to be acted upon, or creating an implied attorney-client relationship through the forum. General legal information is permitted; individualized legal counsel is not.

4.2 Confidential or Privileged Information

Do not post information that is subject to attorney-client privilege, work product protection, a court confidentiality order, or any other legal duty of confidentiality. Do not share another person's personal, financial, medical, or identifying information without their explicit consent.

4.3 Defamation

You may not post false statements of fact about identifiable individuals, law firms, businesses, or Law Hired that could constitute defamation. Opinions must be clearly labeled as opinions. Do not make false claims about the professional conduct, competence, or ethics of specific attorneys or other platform participants.

4.4 Harassment and Personal Attacks

Personal attacks, targeted harassment, intimidation, threats, or abusive language directed at any individual — whether a forum participant, named third party, or public figure — are prohibited. Disagreement is welcome; disrespect is not.

4.5 Spam and Commercial Promotion

Unsolicited commercial messages, repetitive posts, affiliate links, and advertising for products or services unrelated to legal discussion are prohibited. Lawyers may not use the Community as a direct solicitation channel (see Section 5 for lawyer-specific rules). Promotional content beyond what is permitted in your verified profile is not allowed.

4.6 Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL)

Non-lawyers may not provide legal advice through the Community or hold themselves out as attorneys. Law Hired's AI-generated content, if shared in the Community, may not be presented as authoritative legal guidance or used to simulate legal representation.

4.7 Discriminatory Content

Content that is discriminatory, hateful, or derogatory toward any person or group based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic is prohibited. This includes slurs, stereotypes, and content that dehumanizes individuals or groups.

4.8 Threats and Incitement

Threats of physical harm, incitement to illegal activity, or content designed to intimidate or coerce any individual or group are prohibited. This includes veiled or implied threats, encouraging others to harm or harass a specific individual, and content that glorifies violence.

5. Lawyer-Specific Rules

Verified lawyers have a valued and important role in the Community. Their participation elevates the quality of discussion and provides meaningful educational value. However, lawyers must observe additional obligations when participating:

• No Client Solicitation: Lawyers may not use the Community to solicit clients or to initiate representation of individuals who post about their legal problems. Responding to a post with an offer of representation, a request to contact you privately about their case, or any communication designed to secure employment is prohibited and may violate bar solicitation rules.

• Knowledge Sharing Encouraged: Lawyers are encouraged to share general legal knowledge, explain legal concepts, discuss professional trends, and contribute to legal education — provided they clearly disclaim that their posts do not constitute legal advice.

• Mandatory Disclaimer: Every post by a verified lawyer in response to a question about a legal situation must include a clear and conspicuous disclaimer that the post does not constitute legal advice, does not create an attorney-client relationship, and that the reader should consult a licensed attorney for advice specific to their situation.

• No Poaching of Referred Clients: Lawyers may not use the Community to identify and contact clients who are currently engaged with or have been referred to another attorney through the Platform.

• Advertising Compliance: Any content that could constitute attorney advertising under your jurisdiction's rules must comply with applicable advertising regulations.

6. Confidentiality Warning

If you need confidential legal assistance, please use Law Hired's private messaging feature to communicate directly with a licensed attorney, or initiate a matter through the Platform's secure intake process.

7. Content Moderation

The Community is moderated by Law Hired's Trust & Safety team, which may include staff moderators and designated community moderators who are experienced legal professionals. Moderators have the authority to:

• Remove or edit posts that violate these Guidelines.

• Issue warnings to users who violate the Guidelines.

• Temporarily or permanently restrict a user's Community posting privileges.

• Escalate matters to Law Hired's Trust & Safety team for account-level action.

• Lock threads that have become unproductive or are attracting guideline violations.

Moderation decisions are made in good faith based on these Guidelines. Law Hired does not pre-screen all content posted to the Community; moderation is primarily reactive. The fact that a post remains visible does not constitute Law Hired's endorsement of its accuracy or legality.

If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may appeal by emailing legal@lawhired.com with the subject line "Moderation Appeal" and a description of the post and why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. Appeals are reviewed within 5–7 business days.

8. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all original content you post in the Community, subject to the following:

• By posting content in the Community, you grant Law Hired a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, display, reproduce, distribute, and create derivative works from your content for the purposes of operating, improving, and promoting the Platform.

• You represent and warrant that you have the right to post any content you submit and that it does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.

• Do not post content protected by third-party copyright (e.g., full text of articles, briefs, or publications) without permission or a proper fair use basis.

• Law Hired's own content, including platform text, moderation responses, and curated resources, remains the property of Law Hired and may not be reproduced without permission.

9. Consequences of Violations

Violations of these Community Guidelines may result in the following escalating consequences, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation:

• Warning: A formal notice that your post or conduct violated the Guidelines, issued via in-platform notification or email.

• Content Removal: Removal of the offending post, comment, or attachment from the Community.

• Temporary Suspension: Temporary restriction of your ability to post or participate in the Community.

• Permanent Ban: Permanent revocation of your Community access.

• Account-Level Action: Escalation to Law Hired's Trust & Safety team for potential suspension or termination of your overall Law Hired account in accordance with our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

• Bar Referral: For verified lawyers whose Community conduct may constitute a professional responsibility violation, referral to the applicable state bar authority.

Law Hired reserves the right to skip steps in this escalation process for severe violations, including threats, UPL, or conduct that poses an immediate risk of harm to other users.

10. Reporting Violations

If you see content in the Community that you believe violates these Guidelines, please report it promptly. You may use the in-post reporting feature (where available) or contact our moderation team directly at legal@lawhired.com.

Please include the URL or location of the post, the username of the posting party, and a brief description of why you believe the content violates the Guidelines. All reports are reviewed by our moderation team and handled confidentially to the extent possible.

We encourage good-faith reporting. Abuse of the reporting system — including using reports to target users for competitive or personal reasons — is itself a violation of these Guidelines.
